Fall 2010 Beauty Trend: Sculpted nude

Knock knock! Do you hear that? It’s Fall fast approaching, and all this week we will be posting on the hottest trends in fashion and beauty for the upcoming season. First up in beauty is what I call a sculpted nude face. A bit of a twist from the completely nude or bare faced trends of previous seasons, this Fall’s nude face is all about contours.

Tool of the Trade:

Nothing special is needed to create this look. Using an angled blush brush like the Sephora Collection I.T angled blush brush shown above or the MAC #116, apply a foundation one to two shades darker in areas you would like to contour. Below the cheekbone and in the crease of the eyes are popular contour spots, but depending on your face shape, you may also choose to contour your temples, nose or even your neck. Highlight with a light reflecting blush on the top of your cheekbone, or on the center of your eyelids. This look uses minimal color, so choose tones that seem to give you a glow from within. Use this photo as a guide, and remember that contouring recedes an area, and highlighting bring it forward.

Expert tip: Creme foundations may be intimidating for a novice, but done correctly can yield the most rewarding results. The trick is to blend, blend, blend.  You can also use eyeshadows for this technique.

Why wait till Fall, you can wear this look now, I know I won’t be waiting. Will you be trying this look?
