Tiger Woods on the cover of VF.Where is his PR team?

Dear Tiger’s PR team. Where art thou? and why would you allow a photo such as this:

to surface when his character is under so much scrutiny? Do you not have any connects at Vanity Fair? Not even an intern that you could have bribed to sneak into the office of whoever is responsible for this and steal the photos? I know you have the money (at least until the divorce is settled). This is not a good look.

I have followed this story since it broke, primarily because as an image consultant I want to see the recovery. The reason I didn’t post anything is because it wasn’t fashion related news.  I wouldn’t dare do a post highlighting Tiger’s best golf shirts (I did consider putting together a rebound/ Freak’um dress outfit for Elin however.) Thank (or curse if you’re Tiger’s PR team) Vanity Fair for bringing the story over into our world by placing Tiger on the cover.

Image Consulting and PR teams work very closely together, especially when there is breaking news that could result in a bad image, but one of these people on Tiger’s team must be on vacation. I’m pretty sure there is a rule in the image consulting or PR handbook that states: If you are under scrutiny for being a cheater, you do not allow photos that would insinuate that you are also a woman beater to be published. Maybe not in those exact words, but close.

Tiger has a tough, sexy, edgy look in this photo. Hot, independent of current circumstances but also dangerous given current circumstances. I suggest Tiger take a lesson from:

A confessed cheater that still managed to make GQ’s Man of the Year, without looking like a wife beating, bank robber. That’s a comeback! Maybe Tiger should have gotten that “Kobe Special” or at least cried on TV. #Imjustsayin
