Kim Kardashian’s Sexy Eye-Makeup TrickIf you’re looking for a way to spice up your smoky eye makeup, steal this move that Kim Kardashian has perfected: On your bottom lid, try a darker color than the one on your top lid.
In this recent snap, she’s got a shimmery gold on her upper lids (with a smoky brown in her creases) and a darker steel gray along the bottom. The combination actually opens her eyes up as opposed to closing them in, as a circle of dark color would tend to do. Just something to try the next time you’re going for a smoky eye and want to change things up a bit. Other color combos that would work? Navy on the bottom and silver on top, plum on the bottom and lavender on top, and brown on the bottom and shimmery beige on top. Personally I think Nicole Sherzinger of the Pussy Cat Dolls is a much better example of makeup perfection. Nicole’s makeup is always fresh. She has to be…she needs to stand out when compared to her backup singers and that’s not an easy thing to do.
It’s funny that as a straight man I always find myself advising women when it comes to their makeup. What makes Nicole and Kim similar, however is that they both have a brownish tone to their skin. Their makeup gives them quite a bit of leeway to bring out the contours in their face by the use of contrast. Notice that Halle Berry is another woman who always looks perfect in whatever look she chooses. I would say that the first step would be to find out what is the best contrast to your skin tone and then experiment from there.
For example, notice that Nicole and Kim both look their best (in my opinion) when wearing nude lipstick. This is to contrast their naturally tan/mocha lips color. They also have high cheek bones so they don’t wear red blush. Hopefully you get the idea. Just like judging a bodybuilder onstage, it’s all about symmetry and proportion.
