DIY Clip on hair Extensions
Clip on extensions are a great way to quickly add volume and/or length to your hair. They can also be used to try out a new hair cut and protect your real hair from harsh styling. Depending on the brand and length of the extensions you choose, they can get expensive. Here is a quick tutorial on how to create your own clip in hair extension. Most of these items can be found at your local beauty supply store.
What you will need:
Super glue or Needle & Thread
Weft of Hair extensions
Wig clips (see photo below)
Instructions:
1. Measure and cut the hair extensions at their desired width. Be sure to allow space on the sides to hide the ends of the extensions.
2. Take the wig clips and glue or sew them on to the track of hair you just cut. Be sure the combs are facing up. Glue along the top edge only. Place one clip at each end, and depending on the length you may need to add more to the center.
Sewing the clips are the most durable option, but can be time consuming. Super glue is a quick alternative, but will not last as long. Once you have attached the clips, the hair should look like this:
Open the clips by snapping them in towards you, secure the combs to your hair, and snap them close to lock them in place.
If you find that the extensions keep slipping down because your hair is too fine, tease your hair at the roots, to give the clips something to hold on to.You can also place a small braid in your hair to secure the clips on to.
That’s it! I used super glue this past weekend to quickly clip in some highlights to my hair, and was very happy with the results. It took me only five minutes! I tried hair glue initially but that did not stick. I would suggest that you glue them on in the closed position, and you may need to clean the surface of the clips with alcohol before applying the super glue. Wait a few minutes for it to dry and you’re ready to attach them.
Human hair is recommended because it will blend in with your natural hair better, and can withstand heat from a curling or flat iron. If human hair is not available, synthetic can also be used.
It seems easy to get but i tried once your idea and bad things happen to my hair they glued together now i have to cut them a title to overcome the issues. May be it’s my fault i didn’t apply the rules in the same way as you said.:)
