Fashion Oxymorons: a walking contradiction
I have been noticing a lot of walking contradictions, myself included. Fashion oxymorons. You know, things that seemingly contradict each other, being put together. Of such things are:
1. Long sleeved mini’s. This is actually very functional. My arms and upper body are usually cold, while my legs can take the chill a little better. Why is this an oxymoron? It is combining two seasons of clothing, the mini which is reserved for warmer months and long sleeves which are obviously worn during cold months.
2. Open toe boots. Again, another contradiction I love. If you follow me on Twitter, you will see that a pair of open toe booties was the latest additionto my shoe closet. These are purely for aesthetics. Obviously, if it’s cold enough to wear boots, why would you want your toes out?
3. Business Casual. This oxymoron is my everyday ensemble. My foreign clients sometime have a hard time grasping this as it just doesn’t make sense. I will save the rules for business casual for another post, but essentially it is a mix of casual and business dress.
Here are a few more:
Real Polyester or Vinyl
Long shorts
Half Dressed
Long sleeved T-Shirt
Matte Gloss – Yeah there is such a thing.
Are you a walking contradiction? Can you think of any more fashion oxymorons?
