The Aficionado Reviews: L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara

telescopicMascara is part of my daily routine, and is the #1 item on my list of cosmetics I couldn’t live without. I’m like a snob when it comes to mascara. I am ALWAYS in search of the perfect one, you know –  the one that will make my lashes so long, that when I blink the person next to me should feel a slight wind. In my quest I have tried many formulas and brands, with a share of success and failure. I prefer length over volume and primarily stick to waterproof due to Florida’s humidity, and the fact that my eyes water. The next thing I look for in a mascara is color. I prefer black, and the blacker the better. For years I used two mascaras because I wasn’t able to get length and color in one. So, given that I want length beyond measure and the darkest pigmentation of black available, L’Oreal’s Telescopic mascara in Carbon Black should be the perfect one. Continue reading to see how it worked out for me……

Before I tell you my thoughts, check out what L’Oreal has to say about it:

For dramatically longer lashes with 2X* the intensity. L’Oréal introduces new Telescopic® Carbon Black Mascara, for lashes with dramatic length and 2X* the intensity.

  • Ophthalmologist-tested and allergy-tested.
  • Removes easily with soap and water.
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
  • Fragrance-free.

2X* more intense pigments compared to L’Oréal’s regular black shade.

Sounds great right? Well, I agree. I give it  a 10 out of 10. L’Oreal’s website does not show a waterproof version of this, but I think that it is available. I can’t recall if mine is waterproof the tube doesn’t say but I know that if it was available, I picked waterproof.  In either case I love it, my lashes are long and dark. Before this I was using the Maybelline lash stiletto in combination with the original (pink and green tube) maybelline mascara in the blackest black as my everyday mascara (If lash stiletto come in the blackest black I didn’t see it). When I first tried lash stiletto I was disappoint because I didn’t get the length I anticipated and realized that it wasn’t just the length, but the color wasn’t dark enough. When I combined the two, it worked well.

I also have lancome Cils define pro in black, which I also rate as 10 out of 10. The reason this is not my go to mascara is because of the price. I treated it like expensive perfume, special occasions only. At $35 it is worth it because it works and delivers, but when you wear mascara as much as I do, the cost adds up. I think that telescopic is a fantastic replacement for the lancome, and I will even go so far as to say it is better.
